The temporary seizure of bank accounts is politically motivated: PFI

Bangalore, June 2: Condemning the “provisional seizure” of its bank accounts by the Directorate of Execution (ED), the Popular Front for India (PFI) affirmed on Thursday that its “intransigent position” against the “policy of division” of the Sangh Parivar is the only reason he becomes the target of the agency’s “politically motivated” cases.

ED has attached at least 33 bank accounts of PFI and a related organization called Rehab India Foundation in an anti-money laundering investigation against them, officials said on Wednesday.

The accounts hold more than Rs 68 lakh, they had said, adding that 23 accounts from PFI having Rs 59,12,051 and 10 from Rehab India Foundation having Rs 9,50,030 were attached.

The organization described this action as “repressive measures” taken against him in recent years.

It is once again clear that the ED acts as mere “pawns of the political masters” by attacking popular movements, NGOs, human rights organizations, opposition parties, to the media and to all democratic voices in the country who criticize the ruling party. , he alleged.

Emphasizing that the deposits in his accounts as mentioned by the ED for a duration of 13 years are nothing but normal for the functioning of a “national social movement” such as this, PFI said in a statement. , it should also be noted that the said amount includes deposits made during collection campaigns for major calamities facing the country.

“The figures announced by ED are not at all surprising and no major investigation is necessary for an agency like ED because we have already deposited every penny of the income tax collections. This proves that it does not These are just sensational numbers,” he said. said.

The PFI was formed in 2006 in Kerala and has its headquarters in Delhi.

The statement was released by PFI General Secretary Anis Ahmed, Secretary Mohammed Shakif and Karnataka Secretary AK Ashraf.

Noting that the PFI will continue its assertive position and opposition to the “evil designs” of the RSS, he said that “these actions will not intimidate us and we will explore all legal and democratic options to overcome these obstacles”.
